With fibrocystic breasts though you may have a harder time feeling a new breast lump or abnormal change.

Breast cancer fibrocystic breast disease. Doctors sometimes call fibrocystic breast changes fibrocystic breast disease. Fibrocystic breast changes are not cancer. Fibrocystic breast disease causes a person to have lumpy and sometimes painful breasts.

Fibrocystic breast tissue doesnt raise your risk of getting cancer. You may see this referred to as fibrocystic breast disease but its not really a disease fibrosis is a thickening of the breast tissue that you and your doctor can feel through the skin. Fibrocystic breast disease doesnt increase your risk of getting cancer but the changes in your breasts can make it more difficult for you or your doctor to identify potentially cancerous lumps.

It is a very common condition and not harmful. The lumps can be caused by a collection of fibrous tissue in an area of the breast. Although fibrocystic breast changes dont increase your risk of breast cancer having fibrocystic breasts may make it more difficult for you to feel a new breast lump or other abnormal change such as a persistent breast lump that doesnt go away with your next menstrual cycle or thickening or firmness within lumpy breast tissue.
